Every time I have to use the canon-consistent name for places in the Iberian peninsula which are not the official name I lose ten years off my life
#okay fine i will write lerida because you put it there. but is that even what you wanted mr. o'brian sir#honestly stephen is writing in his diary i might just keep it lleida#for the roses fic i just gave up at one point (<- evidenced by this sentence. it's gulf of roses why did he call it rosas bay)#but i don't respect cs forester and he doesn't understand catalanism so whatever#pob would know better so i can only assume it's period-accurate for talking in english :/// but grrrr i don't like it#(i am keeping figueras/rosas/etc bc that's consistent w period catalan spelling from there)#(but lerida??? no. no please no please don't make me do that)#(also ampurdá i can do but ampurdán get cancelled)#perce rambles#percy yells at cecil scott#The Creative Endeavor and other aubreyad nonsense

Lleida, revisitada

Felice - Tiefling Secret Satan 2024
Here's my drawing for the 2024 Tiefling Secret Satan art trading event!!! 😊🔥 This is Felice Sarevi, an adorable Celestial Warlock, and she belongs to Lerida (Adirelart on X - I don't have an X account so I haven't seen hers fyi) I felt like my job was made easy by the fact that the person that I got only submitted one character to the event, and that character is cheerful and loves to dance and has a phoenix patron?! Um, hello?!! 😁 So much fun!💕

Our first #parchment Tuesday of 2023 is Ms. Codex 180, which has some funky edges from holes and stretching from the parchment making process. The text is interesting too: written in Catalan with a Latin prologue, it pertains to the rents and privileges of the Canons Regular of Urgel, in the Catalonian province of Lerida, and was drawn up on 2 September 1415.

...In that Empire, the Art of Cartography attained such Perfection that the map of a single Province occupied the entirety of a City, and the map of the Empire, the entirety of a Province. In time, those Unconscionable Maps no longer satisfied, and the Cartographers Guilds struck a Map of the Empire whose size was that of the Empire, and which coincided point for point with it. The following Generations, who were not so fond of the Study of Cartography as their Forebears had been, saw that that vast Map was Useless, and not without some Pitilessness was it, that they delivered it up to the Inclemencies of Sun and Winters. In the Deserts of the West, still today, there are Tattered Ruins of that Map, inhabited by Animals and Beggars; in all the Land there is no other Relic of the Disciplines of Geography.
